How We Are Successful

We Measure Your Progress to Improve Your Chance of Success

Whether it’s relationship therapy, family therapy or your personal therapy, we keep track of your progress and satisfaction with each session.

At the beginning and end of each session, you will be asked to privately answer four questions on an iPad. At the begining of the session you will be asked about how you have been feeling personally, in your relationship (couple or family), socially and overall in the last week. At the conclusion of each session, you will rate the session overall, and  in terms of your relationship with the therapist, the goals and topics discussed and the approach of the therapy.

Our systematic collection of your progress and feedback will help us know if you are moving in a positive direction and whether you are finding the therapy sessions effective.

While almost everyone likes to think of themselves as getting better over time, the only way to know for certain is to collect “outcome data”. Routine collection of your feedback about the benefits of your experience allows us to plot your progress so you can understand how well you’re doing now and we can change course if you are not improving.

Client outcomes management technology:

  • improves your outcomes;
  • involves you in treatment decisions;
  • makes therapists better at delivering therapy.

Our Success Rate

Not only does systematic collection of your progress and satisfaction level with sessions improve your chance of reaching your goals, it also tells us how successful we are and how we can get better at what we do.

78% of  Allan’s clients successfully accomplished their goals.

That means that of all the people who came to see Allan in the past year,  78% achieved what they hoped to. Client progress with us is 7.5 times better than the progress made by people who do not seek help. This rate of success is as good as clinical trials of Emotionally Focused Therapy research of 75-80%.  All of our therapists track outcomes, but have not enough data to be able to report their success rate yet.

For more information about our outcome measurement system and the research it is based on, see My Outcomes.

Because we have a great number of years of training in a wide variety of couples, family and personal therapy and counselling approaches and experience of what works best, we can ensure a good match for you.

Research on successful outcomes in counselling and therapy indicates that just as important as the therapy approach, is the match of style and personalities of client and therapist.
