Choosing a therapist is a very personal decision because in therapy you open up about very personal matters. Many of the people who reach out to me are feeling discouraged, stuck, or uncertain about how to move forward — whether in their relationship, their family, or their own lives. My role is to provide a safe, respectful space where we can slow things down, understand what’s happening beneath the surface, and work together toward meaningful and lasting change.
I have been working as a therapist for over 40 years and continue to feel deeply honoured to be invited into people’s lives at vulnerable moments. My work is grounded in empathy, curiosity, and a belief that even long-standing patterns can change when we feel understood and emotionally safe.

My Approach
I specialize in Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) for couples, families, and individuals. EFT is a well-researched, attachment-based approach that helps people understand emotional patterns, reduce reactivity, and rebuild trust and connection. For couples, this often means moving out of painful cycles of conflict or distance and toward greater emotional and physical closeness. For individuals and families, it means developing resilience, self-awareness, balance and healthier ways of relating.
Clients often describe me as calm, approachable, and deeply attentive. I work collaboratively, offering both emotional depth and practical guidance, while ensuring sessions remain focused and purposeful.
Experience That Shapes My Work
Much of my professional focus has been on helping improve relationships. Earlier in my career, I worked extensively with children and youth in camps, group homes, treatment centres, and juvenile detention. Over time, my interest shifted toward helping families with adolescents and young adults, and for the past fifteen years, assisting couples in creating family environments that support healthy development and strong relationships.
I have worked with many families navigating parent–teen conflict, separation and divorce, blended families, and the emotional challenges that arise as children grow into adulthood. I am often told that I am particularly skilled at helping parents and teens feel heard and at bridging emotional divides when relationships feel strained.
My personal life has also shaped my understanding of relationships. I am a father of three adult children and a grandfather. I know firsthand how rewarding — and how challenging — family life can be. I have experienced marriage, separation, and the work of building a loving long-term partnership again. These experiences have deepened my respect for how complex relationships are and how much courage it takes to maintain, repair or rebuild them.
I have also faced serious illness and loss, experiences that reinforced for me the importance of resilience, support, and meaning during life’s most difficult situations. While therapy is not about my story, these life experiences inform the depth of understanding, compassion and perspective I bring.
Working With Me
I work with:
- Couples seeking to improve communication, rebuild trust, recover from affairs, or reconnect emotionally and physically
- Individuals and young adults dealing with relationship difficulties, grief, loss, trauma, anxiety, depression, and life changes
- Families and parents of teens navigating conflict, behavioural challenges, or major transitions
I have also spent many years as a client myself in individual, couples, and family therapy. I believe this experience has made me a more thoughtful and grounded therapist.
