Frequently Asked Questions
1. Why should we try therapy? Shouldn’t we be able to handle our issues on our own?
Research shows that talk therapy can help many people. Our own outcome measures demonstrate that people accomplish their desired goals. Many of our clients report relief from stress, depression, anxiety and relationship difficulties. Other clients long for deeper meaning in their lives or a greater sense of peace. While you certainly may have the inner resources to handle this on your own, we believe that a caring and objective third party can make the process easier and faster.
2. Are your therapists going to tell us what to do?
We are here to help you sort out your thoughts and feelings and explore areas you may not have considered. We can help you become clearer in your mind, so you can make decisions in ways that will help you feel more confident. We won’t tell you what to do, but we will support you as you explore your options.
3. What is your success rate? Can you prevent a break up or divorce?
We wish we could do that for everyone. However, using well researched forms of therapy, improves your chance of success. Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy has a 75% success rate. Most people feel better after their first session. Even though their issues are not resolved, they feel hopeful that they are on the right path. Success, such as more open communication, a deeper understanding of yourself and others, and lasting change in your relationship is what we strive to provide.
